HydroStar is “Brand of the Century”

A great honour for BINDER: the ZEIT publishing group has named the HydroStar turbine swimming system “Brand of the Century”. In doing so, the jury honoured the the counter-current system’s pioneering technology.

Only products that have set entirely new standards in their field can call themselves “Brand of the Century”. The HydroStar counter-current system received the award because it offers pool owners a unique swimming experience. Unlike conventional systems, HydroStar works with turbines instead of pumps and therefore generates a wide, powerful current. Swimmers can focus entirely on their technique without flipping or losing balance. Training with HydroStar also feels like swimming in a natural river – another unique feature.

The jury of the “Deutsche Standards” brand award voted for HydroStar in an elaborate selection process. “Brands of the Century” are very exclusive, as only one product is honoured in each category.

BINDER has already received several awards for its turbine-driven counter-current systems: the company received the prestigious German Brand Award for HydroStar, among others, and the EasyStar retrofit unit impressed the jury of the German Design Award with its timelessly elegant housing.

Lisa Gerß and Philipp Mock are promoting the unique counter-current systems from BINDER

BINDER continues to expand its cooperation with top athletes: The swimming pool technology specialist has gained further testimonials for its turbine-driven counter-current systems from the triathletes Lisa Gerß and Philipp Mock. Both have already celebrated quite a bit of success in their careers.

Lisa Gerß is German champion in her age group over the Ironman distance and has won the Hessen championship over the middle distance several times. But the 28-year-old from Bad Pyrmont has set herself even higher goals:
“I want to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.”

Lisa Gerß appreciates the sport of swimming above all, “because it’s technically demanding and uses many muscle groups”. And also quite varied:
“Depending on the way you train, it can be a really hard workout or a good way to relax.”

BINDER will sponsor Lisa Gerß over the next two years and plans to produce a series of videos in which the certified ecotrophologist (qualification in nutritional science and home economics) gives tips on the subject of nutrition.

The athletic achievements of Philipp Mock are also impressive: Among other things, the qualified optician finished third at the Ironman in Hawaii in the 18 to 24 age group and was the German runner-up over long distance.

For the now 33-year-old, HydroStar’s wide, powerful current offers ideal conditions to train his technique. “I’ve swum against a few counter-current systems, but it wasn’t until I started using the turbine swimming system from BINDER that I found the perfect solution.”

Philipp Mock is the proud owner of a HydroStar BGA 550 and can therefore prepare optimally for the next sporting challenges.

BINDER products now with three-year guarantee

BINDER products now with three-year guarantee

The confidence of BINDER in its products is so great that the company is now extending its product guarantee from the customary two to three years.

The guarantee covers both the counter-current systems HydroStar and EasyStar, as well as tube and shaft motors, piezo switches and LED lighting. The extended guarantee is an additional sales argument for specialist dealers, since other manufacturers normally only offer a two-year term.

BINDER is underlining the high quality of its products with the new three-year guarantee. Swimming pool professionals also recommend regular care of the stainless steel components of the turbine swimming systems to ensure they are preserved for as long as possible. The stainless steel cleaner Pelox is ideal for this. Binder provides it in a set with polishing pad and special sponge in package sizes of 100 g and 250 g. You can use the set to clean and maintain all BINDER stainless steel products.

Tip for specialist retailers: The installation of turbine-driven counter-current systems is especially easy with the Weicon Anti-Seize High-Tech installation paste, which you can also obtain from BINDER. The paste is resistant to high temperatures and has a very good separation effect. Anti-Seize protects against corrosion, jamming, wear, oxidation, fretting corrosion and electrolytic reactions.

Jessica Vall becomes a BINDER brand ambassador in Spain

Professional swimmer Jessica Vall will start to promote BINDER’s turbine-driven counter-current systems in Spain as a brand ambassador with immediate effect. Jessica has already won numerous medals. Her next aim is to reach the final of the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

New website: All product worlds at a glance

BINDER has completely redesigned its website. The most striking changes are the distinctive look, the fresh visual language and a magazine section with lots of interesting information about swimming, wellness and leisure. In addition, visitors to the site will now find all BINDER brands under one roof.

The new website merges the previous websites binder24.com and www.hydrostar-binder.de into a single brand environment. The relaunch of the website was conceived and implemented by the Köhler+Partner agency. It forms part of BINDER’s new online strategy, which includes its existing Facebook presence as well as the recently launched activities on Instagram and LinkedIn.

On the social media channels, BINDER will not only feature regular reports from its EasyStar brand ambassador Elena Krawzow, but will also get to grips with current topics and trends.

Expansion of the warehouse and production halls

Expansion of the warehouse and production halls

In September, the BINDER family invited participants to attend the roofing ceremony. The new 300 square metre warehouse and production hall was erected in a short time. The new premises were urgently needed to cope with increased demand.

The new hall was inaugurated before a circle of employees, tradespeople, friends, press and politicians. Due to the close ties to his hometown Hamelin, Siegfried Binder said in his welcome address that almost exclusively Hamelin-based companies had been commissioned.

Lord Mayor Claudio Griese is delighted with the company’s history and emphasises how important the company is for Hamelin’s economy. The now more than 60 employees show that Siegfried Binder was onto a good thing back then with business idea to develop turbine-powered countercurrent systems.

Since the sales figures for the counterflow systems are continuing to grow, the sky’s the limit, explains Siegfried Binder. “We plan to acquire a new plot of land in the Hamelin industrial area in two to three years, where we can build completely new facilities to fully optimise our production and development possibilities.”

That was aquanale 2019

With 28,000 visitors from 128 countries, the aquanale 2019 was a complete success! Together with the increase in the number of visitors, the reorganisation of the range of topics and the increased internationality underscored its importance for the international swimming pool and wellness industry.

For the first time, we deliberately presented our entire product portfolio to the numerous visitors and customers at this trade fair and received a lot of positive feedback. Over an even bigger area than in previous years, this time we presented our MecaTec brand alongside our HydroStar and EasyStar counter-current systems.

Our trade fair pool, where different athletes swam against our HydroStar every hour on the hour, was still the highlight. Elena Krawzow, swimming world champion and EasyStar brand ambassador, was also there for a whole day. She was available for talks and interviews and impressively showed how useful and effective training with our counter-current systems is for professional swimmers as well.

World record attempt with HydroStar

On 14 and 15 July 2018, a team of German free-swimming champions, Olympic participants and the 12-time world champion and three-time Olympian Thomas Lurz, undertook a world record attempt against the Hydrostar in the BINDER trade fair pool.

The team was put together by Stefan Lurz, German national trainer for free swimmers.

The idea to swim the 51 km long ferry route from Gedser (DK) to Rostock (DE) against the Hydrostar in the BINDER pool in less than 10 hours turned out successfully for the elite swimming team.

Binder offers its warmest congratulations on this success.

The world record attempt was held as a charity relay to benefit Kinderhilfe Organtransplantation (children’s aid for organ transplants). It was organised by SVW05 (Würzburg swim club) and Fitness Club SVW05 under the direction of Rainer Griebl.
