Always close to the customer: our sales teams

What would BINDER be without its committed, competent employees? With this in mind, we’re presenting some of our departments to you in no particular order. Let’s start with sales: Our sales colleagues aren’t just the interface to our specialised trade partners, they also take on many other important tasks.

Communicating and organising are the two most important activities in this department. While our staff in the sales office are dealing with end-to-end quotation and order processing, keeping an eye on delivery dates and writing invoices, the sales representatives are constantly out on the road.

Direct contact in every direction
The office staff are not only in close contact with their colleagues in the sales regions, but also have a direct line to our production teams. Together with the specialists there, they agree on special features and coordinate order details, for example. The office team also organise the entire logistics chain – with the utmost care and a strong focus on ensuring that the deadlines are met. Any initial technical questions from our trade partners are also answered by our colleagues in the office.

Personal relationship with customers
The main task of the sales representatives is to acquire new contacts and maintain existing business relationships. Our colleagues in field sales also explain our products and their USPs to the trade partners. They organise their appointments and travel routes completely independently and are thus entirely flexible.

Trial swim offers
The BINDER sales representatives also support our specialist trade partners with a variety of sales promotions. Our colleagues help, for example, to organise and run in-house trade fairs – with advertising material and demonstration facilities that can be used for free trial swims. If required, our sales staff can also organise professional athletes to swim against our equipment during the event.

Help with installation
Supporting new trade partners with initial installation is another one of the tasks of our sales representatives. If necessary, our colleagues can be present on the installation site and give practical tips for quick and easy installation.

Valuable information for product development
Our sales staff also perform a completely different function: because they are in direct contact with our specialist trade partners, they quickly learn about the latest trends in the swimming pool sector. We then try to take the information they give us into account when continuing to develop our products. Our sales representatives are always ready to listen to their customers!

Lightweight with an optimal current – the new plastic installation housing for wall installation

BINDER launches new product to expand its portfolio of turbine shafts: the new plastic installation housing for wall installation is lighter than the stainless steel models and offers an additional benefit.

Until now, pool owners had the choice between a single shaft for single turbines and a twin shaft for systems with a double turbine – both made of stainless steel. With its plastic installation housing for wall installation, BINDER is bringing an additional option onto the market for its single turbines: this shaft is made of plastic and is significantly lighter than the stainless steel model (approx. 30 kg) at 12 kg.

Thanks to its light weight, the plastic installation housing is even easier to install than conventional models. BINDER has not only optimised the material in its latest product, but also the form. Water flows to the turbine even more smoothly, and swimmers benefit from an improved current.

The new installation housing for wall installation is available for use with single turbines and is suitable for pools with liners and GRP pools. Single turbines with a flow rate of 160 m³/h, 215 m³/h and 275 m³/h can be fitted inside the plastic installation housing. In addition to the standard flow aid, BINDER is also offering a flow aid with LED lighting as a special feature. The light ring bathes the water in a colourful light, thereby creating a very special atmosphere in the pool.

Prices for HydroStar and EasyStar remain stable

Prices for HydroStar and EasyStar remain stable

Nurturing a partner-like relationship with specialist retailers is very close to BINDER’s heart. Since reliability is also part of a good working relationship, the company will not be increasing the sales prices for its turbine swimming systems despite increased raw material costs.

In recent months, not only have many everyday products become increasingly expensive, but also the components of BINDER’s popular counter-current systems. These include stainless steel, which is used for the production of the installation housings, the drives and the cover panels. The electronic components for the switch boxes have also become more expensive.

Nevertheless, BINDER will not be increasing the price of its turbine swimming systems for the time being. “We endeavour to be a reliable partner for specialist retailers,” says Managing Director Siegfried Binder, explaining the decision. While the price remains the same, the range of accessories for HydroStar and EasyStar continues to expand. For instance, BINDER most recently presented an LED light ring for turbine outflow openings at Piscine Global. It illuminates the water in a wide variety of colours, creating a relaxing atmosphere by the pool.

Start of construction for new company headquarters

Start of construction for new company headquarters

BINDER’s turbine swimming systems are very popular with pool owners, and demand is rising continuously. The swimming pool technology specialist is therefore expanding and building a new company headquarters in an industrial area in Hameln. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the beginning of November.

With Siegfried, Sibylle and Felix Binder, the entire BINDER Management was on site to celebrate the start of construction work. Hameln’s Lord Mayor Claudio Griese was also among the guests in attendance – he is particularly pleased that BINDER, an internationally successful company from the region, is moving into the new “Langes Feld” industrial estate.

The swimming pool technology specialist is investing a total of 10 million euros in the new company headquarters, which was planned in accordance with the latest findings in energy efficiency. This building project is being promoted with financial support from the European Union and the state of Lower Saxony. Production will start here in the spring of next year, followed by administration at the end of 2023.

BINDER had already expanded its production in 2019 due to the good volume of orders. The construction of the new production and administration building now creates the conditions for further growth.

BINDER24 app now features training units from triathlon coach Matthias Knossalla

BINDER24 app now features training units from triathlon coach Matthias Knossalla

The BINDER24 app has been given exciting new features: it now offers exclusive training sessions by triathlon pro and coach Matthias Knossalla. The modules are intended for beginners as well as advanced and competitive swimmers.

The sports science graduate and ex-triathlete has developed a total of nine different training programmes for the BINDER24 app – three each in the Beginner, Advanced and Professional categories.

The sessions are quite varied, and always start with a warm-up and end with a cool-down.

The exercises make use of various swimming aids such as pull-buoys, boards, fins or paddles. In between, there are active recovery phases, which one can use for casual swim, for example. BINDER will initially release one programme from each of the three categories; the remaining training modules will then follow at intervals of two months.

“We’re delighted that Matthias Knossalla has enhanced the BINDER24 app with his training tips. Everyone can learn a lot from his knowledge as an athlete, trainer and coach,” says Managing Director Felix Binder about the new programme content.

As a competitor, Matthias Knossalla was, among other things, German duathlon second-place champion and finished second three times in the Ironman 70.3® and Challenge®races.

As a trainer and coach, his tasks include getting his athletes fit for the Ironman triathlon in Hawaii and helping them to achieve personal best times.

Environmental protection and sustainability – an important topic for BINDER

Environmental protection and sustainability – an important topic for BINDER

BINDER not only manufactures counter-current systems that generate a natural flow: the company is also very concerned about the environment itself. That’s why the swimming pool technology specialist already began taking a series of measures to save energy and reduce packaging waste a long time ago. And these are slated to be expanded even further in the future.

One important project with regard to climate protection and sustainability is the photovoltaic system on the roof of the production building, which supplies 100 percent green electricity for production and administration. The e-filling station is another: in addition to the company’s own vehicles, employees and customers can also charge their cars here. In future, BINDER will equip its company fleet with exclusively electric vehicles. Another climate-friendly action was the switch to energy-saving light bulbs in administration and production – a change that was made years ago.

The careful use of natural resources is also close to BINDER’s heart: that’s why the company uses reusable packaging in many areas, which BINDER returns after receiving the goods for the next delivery and which are then used again. BINDER has already spared large amounts of packaging material by means of this process.

The expansion of production capacities is another area of note; this became necessary due to the high demand for the turbine swimming system. BINDER planned the new company buildings according to the latest insights into energy efficiency.

Incidentally, the turbine swimming systems themselves are also true energy savers, as they consume only 15% of electrical energy compared to pump-driven counter-current systems (using the BGA 160 as an example) for the same flow rate. When manufacturing its products, BINDER also uses only high-quality components that have a long service life and are recyclable to a large degree. This reduces the consumption of resources even further.

Triathlon coach Matthias Knossalla promotes HydroStar

Triathlon coach Matthias Knossalla promotes HydroStar

Renowned triathlon coach Matthias Knossalla is now a BINDER partner. As a former professional athlete, Knossalla is held in high esteem in the sports world and will make the turbine-powered counter-current systems even better known there.

Matthias Knossalla is the founder and managing director of trivolution-training. With his 11-member team, he coaches over 150 athletes worldwide. From professional athletes to first-time long-distance swimmers.

Knossalla is currently setting up a base for athletes to supervise their training there as well. His base will of course also have a pool featuring the BINDER counter-current system: “It’s perfect for aerobic training,” says the qualified sports scientist. But that’s not all: “The wide, powerful current is also ideal for targeted training in swimming techniques,” adds Knossalla. The former top athlete is enthusiastic about the unique swimming sensation that the BINDER units offer. “When you switch on the twin turbines, it’s like being in a natural body of water.” In other words, the optimum conditions for triathlon swimming training.

Numerous top sporting achievements
During his active career, Matthias Knossalla enjoyed many sporting successes. Among other things, he was German runner-up in the duathlon, came second three times in the Ironman 70.3® and achieved a best performance over 180 km cycling in the triathlon. For some time now, he has been working as a coach and has already become German champion with his athletes (Triathlon Long Distance Women 2017).

New book “The Kona Code”
But he is also known in the scene as a keynote speaker and author. Only recently he published his book “The Kona Code”. Here, Knossalla recommends periodised training, for example: eight months, starting with a period of acclimatisation to protect against dangerous overconfidence. In the book, successful coach Sebastian Weber also examines the Ironman Hawaii qualification from a physiological perspective.
Dr. Mareike Großhauser and Dr. Georg Abel then take a detailed look at proper nutrition and two top athletes clarify mental issues. Details on training camps and age groups round off the book.

As a former top athlete, Knossalla promotes the turbine-powered counter-current systems in his training programmes, on his website and in social media channels, among other things.

HydroStar is “Brand of the Century”

from BINDER GmbH

HydroStar is “Brand of the Century”

A great honour for BINDER: the ZEIT publishing group has named the HydroStar turbine swimming system “Brand of the Century”. In doing so, the jury honoured the the counter-current system’s pioneering technology.

Only products that have set entirely new standards in their field can call themselves “Brand of the Century”. The HydroStar counter-current system received the award because it offers pool owners a unique swimming experience. Unlike conventional systems, HydroStar works with turbines instead of pumps and therefore generates a wide, powerful current. Swimmers can focus entirely on their technique without flipping or losing balance. Training with HydroStar also feels like swimming in a natural river – another unique feature.

The jury of the “Deutsche Standards” brand award voted for HydroStar in an elaborate selection process. “Brands of the Century” are very exclusive, as only one product is honoured in each category.

BINDER has already received several awards for its turbine-driven counter-current systems: the company received the prestigious German Brand Award for HydroStar, among others, and the EasyStar retrofit unit impressed the jury of the German Design Award with its timelessly elegant housing.

Lisa Gerß and Philipp Mock are promoting the unique counter-current systems from BINDER

Lisa Gerß and Philipp Mock are promoting the unique counter-current systems from BINDER

BINDER continues to expand its cooperation with top athletes: The swimming pool technology specialist has gained further testimonials for its turbine-driven counter-current systems from the triathletes Lisa Gerß and Philipp Mock. Both have already celebrated quite a bit of success in their careers.

Lisa Gerß is German champion in her age group over the Ironman distance and has won the Hessen championship over the middle distance several times. But the 28-year-old from Bad Pyrmont has set herself even higher goals:
“I want to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.”

Lisa Gerß appreciates the sport of swimming above all, “because it’s technically demanding and uses many muscle groups”. And also quite varied:
“Depending on the way you train, it can be a really hard workout or a good way to relax.”

BINDER will sponsor Lisa Gerß over the next two years and plans to produce a series of videos in which the certified ecotrophologist (qualification in nutritional science and home economics) gives tips on the subject of nutrition.

The athletic achievements of Philipp Mock are also impressive: Among other things, the qualified optician finished third at the Ironman in Hawaii in the 18 to 24 age group and was the German runner-up over long distance.

For the now 33-year-old, HydroStar’s wide, powerful current offers ideal conditions to train his technique. “I’ve swum against a few counter-current systems, but it wasn’t until I started using the turbine swimming system from BINDER that I found the perfect solution.”

Philipp Mock is the proud owner of a HydroStar BGA 550 and can therefore prepare optimally for the next sporting challenges.
