The perfect current for a lazy river

International studies show that many people favour holiday destinations where there are exciting water attractions. Destinations with a lazy river therefore have a clear advantage in the highly competitive tourism industry. Those who equip their artificial rivers with the HydroStar PRO current turbine from BINDER offer their guests a very special experience.

On holiday, you want to switch off and let yourself drift – and what better way to do so than in a lazy river? The rippling current of these artificial rivers quickly makes you forget the stress of everyday life, so more and more hotels, leisure pools and campsites are now investing in the construction of a lazy river to increase their attractiveness.

One way to create a natural bathing experience in artificial river landscapes is with HydroStar PRO. The current turbine is based on BINDER’s patented, multi-award-winning turbine technology, which differs from pump-driven systems with its wide, powerful flow rate that flows around and supports the body in equal measure. This creates the feeling of being in a natural body of water.

The powerful current is generated with significantly lower energy consumption. In addition to a lazy river, other water attractions can be operated in parallel, which is not possible with pump-based systems. Compared to other technologies, the current turbine ensures lower energy costs for more environmentally sound bathing fun.

Another advantage of HydroStar PRO over pump systems is its high level of durability: as the systems are winterproof, they do not need to be removed during the cold half of the year. Installation is also much easier than with conventional systems: apart from the turbine, the installation housing for wall installation, and the control unit, no other components are required. Nor is there any need for elaborate pipework.

Get your pool ready for action now

Get your pool ready for action now

The new pool season is approaching, and the sense of anticipation is growing with each passing day. But before you can dive in, outdoor pools need a spring clean. By heeding a few tips, you can enjoy an untroubled swimming season.

Many garden pool owners are eagerly waiting for the weather to finally get warmer. And there’s a simple reason for this: when temperatures are permanently above 15 °C, the conditions are ideal for operating swimming pools with heat pumps. Above 15 °C, the pumps operate extremely efficiently and save a lot of energy.

There is no fixed point in time for filling a pool. The important thing is to thoroughly remove leaves, branches and dirt from the empty pool beforehand. If the pool has a turbine swimming system such as HydroStar or EasyStar, the shaft or housing also requires careful cleaning. This keeps the technology reliable and ensures lasting high performance.

pH value plays an important role in water quality

Once the pool has been filled, it is advisable to check the pH value thoroughly. A value between 7.0 and 7.4 not only ensures optimum water quality but also extends the service life of the pool components and prevents algae from forming. A pH value that is too high or too low can be balanced out with special pH plus or pH minus products.

A turbine swimming system is the ideal addition

Many pool owners use the spring clean as an opportunity to upgrade their pool. A turbine swimming system from BINDER is perfect for this, providing a wide, powerful current that feels as if you are in a river. It creates the ideal conditions for endurance swimming, wellness exercises, aqua aerobics and aqua jogging, and even just splashing around is much more fun with the turbine-powered devices.

BINDER has the right turbine swimming system in its range for every pool and every requirement. HydroStar was developed for permanent installation in the pool wall, EasyStar for quick retrofitting, and LittleStarlet is so compact that the system can even be installed on a step in the pool. The systems are conveniently controlled by remote control or via the BINDER24 app. They are available with flow rates of 160 m3 to 1,200 m3 per hour.

Strength, expertise and new approaches: our Motor Development department

What would BINDER be without its committed, competent employees? In our series, we introduce you to various departments – today it is the turn of our Motor Development department. It is a crucial part of our technical areas and ensures that everything runs smoothly day in, day out, when it comes to motors.

Development work does not begin on the machine itself, but even earlier, during the design of new solutions. Our colleagues are responsible for everything to do with the development, production and optimisation of our motors. Their goal: combining quality, reliability and progress.

This department rarely works alone. In constant dialogue with Process Planning, the Sales Office, Design, Marketing, Mechanical Production and Electronics Development, the team takes on board requirements, contributes its own ideas, and works together to find viable solutions that are suitable for everyday use. This interface work makes it possible for us to design and manufacture drives that precisely meet the needs of the market and our company.

Another hallmark of Motor Development: it also sees itself as a point of contact for technical questions and challenges from our customers. Whether it’s analysing and testing motor and control applications or evaluating new motor concepts, our team checks everything with care and the necessary eye for detail. This enables us to recognise potential early on and provide support for tricky applications as well as ongoing development issues.

Whether exciting new designs, routine work, or quick support in the event of a problem: Motor Development combines technical expertise, experience and teamwork. This results in drives that you can rely on – today, tomorrow, and in the future.

Aquanale 2025: Innovations inspire the trade fair audience

Full power in the smallest of spaces – that’s what the new, extremely compact LittleStarlet retrofit system from BINDER offers. Visitors to the aquanale trade fair stand were able to experience the system live in action. The second innovation also met with great interest: a solar-powered drive for swimming pool covers.

The LittleStarlet turbine swimming system boasts several superlatives: the system is not only very compact, but also particularly energy-efficient and convenient to operate. A great feature is the LED light ring integrated into the turbine’s outlet opening: It can be used to create a variety of lighting effects using the BINDER +System.

Thanks to LittleStarlet’s very short design, the device can even be installed in very confined spaces (Ø 25 cm x 40 cm). BINDER has not only further reduced the size of the motor in the system – the impeller has also been completely redesigned. The new design enables a powerful, even flow. At the same time, the appliance is very energy efficient.

Very easy installation

The small diameter of LittleStarlet makes it possible to install the turbine driven counterflow system on a step in the pool. It can also be easily attached to the nozzle or technology shaft of existing systems. A weaker, pump-operated system can thus be replaced quickly without the need for the time-consuming drilling of holes in the pool wall. LittleStarlet is controlled via the BINDER24 app or remote control.

Pool cover is moved in a climate-neutral way

The second highlight at the aquanale trade fair stand was a new solar-powered drive system for above-ground pool covers. The drive consists of an electric motor with a four-stage planetary gearbox, which is supplemented by a control board. As the control board is located directly in the housing, the wiring work for the pool builder is considerably reduced. The drive works with a small solar module (approx. A4 size) and a rechargeable battery. Both the battery and the solar module can be purchased from BINDER in corresponding quantities. The solar control board of the electric motor was designed on the basis of BINDER’s new modular motor control system. It combines simple set-up with very good controllability.

Process Planning: where planning leads to MORE drive

What would BINDER be without its committed, competent employees? We are introducing you to some of our departments in no particular order, and in this instalment we will focus on our Process Planning department. It creates the basis for efficient processes and reliable results.

At BINDER, there are many cogs interacting with perfect precision. To ensure that every order runs smoothly, you need a department that keeps track of everything: for us, this is our Process Planning department. It is the backbone for efficient and timely processes in our company.

Resource planning is a key issue: materials, personnel and machines are coordinated in such a way that downtimes are avoided. At the same time, Process Planning optimises processes and shortens throughput times. The team is supported by modern planning techniques and digital tools that enable reliable management.

Interface coordination is also important. Process Planning works in close cooperation with all departments – be it Design, Purchasing, Production or Quality Assurance – and ensures that information flows reliably. This is the only way to meet deadlines and utilise resources sensibly.

The result: smooth processes, lower costs and higher productivity. Above all, however, Process Planning increases our ability to deliver; a decisive factor in terms of customer satisfaction.

Regardless of whether it’s a question of individual, series or customised production: our Process Planning is flexible, which makes it a strategic success factor. It is the drive that keeps our production moving.

Coordination and more: Our back office

What would BINDER be without its dedicated, skilled employees? In our series, we take a closer look at various departments, this time focusing on our office staff. They are the central interface between customers, field staff and production, and their organisational skills and expertise ensure that every order is carried out smoothly.

Phone rings. E-mail pops up. Order comes in. And in the middle of it all: our back office. What at first glance looks like ordinary everyday office work is in fact a highly complex interaction of the most diverse tasks and requirements. Our back office is much more than just an interface – it is the hub connecting almost all areas of our company.

Be it work scheduling, purchasing, production, warehouse, dispatch, management, field service or customers – the back office is in contact with everyone. Every day and always with a smile. Competent. Friendly. Solution-orientated.

Creating quotes, precisely logging orders and arranging deliveries – whether by freight forwarder or parcel service. Customs clearance and invoicing are also part of the daily business.

Our team is characterised by its ability to maintain an overall perspective, even in hectic moments – while always remaining reliable, professional and service-oriented.

“From the inside out” is not just a phrase here, but an ethos. Our colleagues have often known our customers for many years, understand their needs and take great care to ensure that any enquiry is processed smoothly. Telephone calls to the office don’t end up in a ticket system, but are dealt with by people who listen, understand and take action. Whether it’s a routine matter or a case of “we just need something quickly” – our office staff make it possible.

MORE attention – Our new promo board for the salesroom

Anyone who sells our turbine swimming systems knows: Experience is the first step towards enthusiasm. This is exactly where our new advertising material comes in. The promo board impressively summarises the benefits of our products. High-quality design, with well thought-out construction and a very special effect.

Equipped with a brushed stainless steel cover plate, the familiar LED light ring and the illuminated optical control panel (BOB), the board not only offers technical sophistication, but also a genuine quality experience. The LED ring was specially developed for the HydroStar outlet opening and makes a strong visual statement with its atmospheric play of colours – even without water.

BOB shows what’s possible: Coloured LEDs make the performance of the system visible, a feature that is unique on the market. And yes, the interaction also works perfectly when dry: The integrated control system lights up the LED ring and BOB at the touch of a button. It makes our system tangible in the truest sense of the word.

The promo board creates a real conversation starter – and not just for those interested in technology. It arouses curiosity, attracts attention and offers the perfect introduction to advice on our turbine swimming systems and the right accessories.

Specialist retailers can now order the promo board directly from us. Our sales representatives will be happy to provide you with advice and assistance, and can, on request, also take care of the ordering process.

You can’t get MORE attention than that.

Much MORE than just numbers: our Accounting department

Much MORE than just numbers: our Accounting department

What would BINDER be without its committed, competent employees? We therefore present some of our departments in loose succession. This time it’s our colleagues from Accounting: they always have a clear overview of income and expenditure.

When you hear the word “accounting”, you think of long columns of figures, dusty cash books and boring arithmetic operations. This has nothing to do with the reality at BINDER: the tasks of our Accounting department are varied and demanding. It ensures that the company’s financial processes run smoothly. Our colleagues need accuracy, organisational skills and an in-depth understanding of the financial processes at BINDER.
Wide-ranging tasks
Important events in Accounting are the monthly and annual financial accounts – this is where the company’s financial situation is reviewed. The annual financial accounts are the most extensive. On the other hand, the daily tasks of our colleagues include accounts receivable and accounts payable: they monitor payments and open items, check and post invoices, and monitor payment deadlines and the timely processing of payments.

Close dialogue with other departments
As if all this wasn’t challenging enough, our colleagues in Accounting also have to be very familiar with international payment processes. This includes, for example, currency conversions, payment systems and transaction costs. Despite all the precision and necessary attention to detail, you should not think of your colleagues in Accounting as inflexible and uncommunicative. On the contrary: they undergo continuous further training and work hand in hand with our Controlling department. This department takes on many other important tasks at BINDER.

BINDER’s QM System Certified by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH

BINDER places great importance on the high quality of its products and implemented a Quality Management (QM) system based on DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 some time ago. Now, TÜV NORD CERT GmbH has officially confirmed that the quality management system meets the requirements of the standard.

In a multi-day auditing process, auditors from TÜV NORD CERT GmbH reviewed numerous described process flows, spoke with employees, and examined various measuring instruments in design and production, as well as customer communication.

The auditors assessed the implementation of the PDCA cycle (Plan-Do-Check-Act) – a fundamental method in the quality management process – and participated in production meetings. BINDER was not only certified as meeting all requirements set out in the 10 standard chapters of ISO 9001 without deviation, but the auditors also highlighted the excellently illustrated work instructions in the assembly department in their final report.

We see many advantages in the QM system: By adhering to the standard, our company achieves clear, traceable processes, enabling us to produce even more efficiently. Furthermore, our customers’ wishes can be optimally recorded and fulfilled. However, the quality management process is not concluded with the certification by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH. We will continuously develop the QM system and adapt it to the changing circumstances within the company.

The perfect drive for movable floors

from BINDER GmbH

The perfect drive for movable floors

The powerful MTI underwater motors from BINDER move swimming pool covers quickly, safely and almost silently. Movable floors are a particularly elegant type of cover: Hidden beneath them is a true bathing paradise.

A movable floor not only saves a lot of space – it also reduces the energy consumption of a swimming pool. Raising the floor completely keeps the heat in the pool and stops evaporation. This saves pool owners’ heating costs, water and cleaning chemicals.

Movable floors have even more advantages: the pool area can be used as a terrace, for example, when the floor is raised. In this state, the movable floor also offers a high degree of safety, as nobody can fall into the water. As the depth of a movable floor pool can be individually adjusted, a swimmer’s pool can also be transformed into a non-swimmer’s pool for the little ones in no time at all.

MTI underwater motors from BINDER are ideal for use with movable floors. The drives achieve a high level of efficiency, reach torques of up to 1,000 Nm and are completely waterproof (IP68) thanks to the nitrogen filling. BINDER manufactures the 24 V DC motors from high-quality stainless steel (1.4571 or 1.4404) with variable flange diameters. All MTI drives are equipped with a magnetic encoder that ensures simple and precise movement to the end position.

Drives are also suitable for small installation spaces
BINDER motors are very energy-efficient and quiet, so they do not disturb the neighbours. They can be used in water depths of up to 3 metres and can be conveniently operated with the MTN synchronous control system from BINDER. Synchronisation is important with a movable floor. The standard control unit has a software extension for this purpose.

Movable floor manufacturers benefit not only from the performance of the submersible motors, but also from their compact design: the drives have housing diameters of just 90 mm to 204 mm. Up to four of the motors can be installed in a movable floor.
